When a Wound Won’t Heal

The feet and lower legs are particularly at risk from sores that seemingly refuse to heal. Such ulcerations are often realted to pressure and circulation problems. What should you do if you or someone you know is nursing a foot sore that just doesnt get better? See a podiatrist immediately.

Going without proper treatment can lead to loss of a limb or even death. One technique that may offer hope for some cases is called “topical hyperbaric oxygen therapy” (THBO), in which oxygen is administered at higher than normal pressure. In other cases, more traditional treatments including medications, and remove of damaged tissue, may be best. Your podiatrist can help find the optimal path toward healing for you.

While some foot conditions are annoyingly painful and require little more than routine professional care, others are deadly serious and demand close attention. Foot sores that won’t heal are at the top of the list of this second category.
